Buying a Furnace?

If you are in the market for a new furnace in the Ottawa area or anywhere else in Canada for that matter, you need to consider a few things before you make your purchase. If you are not sure where to start your search just Google “Ottawa furnace or “furnace Ottawa” and you will have lots of companies to choose from. Here a couple of things you need to consider.

Size Matters!

· When it comes to furnace performance - size matters! It is key to match the capacity of the furnace to the size of your home. If you purchase a furnace that is too small for the area you want to heat it will have to work longer and in the end will not heat your home the way you want. If it is too big you are paying too much for the furnace and it will be constantly cycling on and off, wearing out the components prematurely.

· To be sure of correct sizing and a proper installation, choose a reputable contractor who will take the time to calculate your heating needs according to an industry standard.

Efficiency also Matters

· Because gas is the most common heating fuel used right now and most new central-heating systems use gas, the efficiently it converts gas into heating energy is reflected in its annual fuel-utilization-efficiency. The higher the number the better, the more heat the furnace can get each therm of gas. Having an efficient furnace saves you money and helps the environment.

What Brand Should I Choose?

There are lots of good brands to choose from and it goes without saying that you need to do your own research. Today there are tons of furnace reviews you can look at online to research so that you can make an informed choice.

What about Installation?

Right off the top I would suggest that it is better to have the furnace installation done by the company you purchased it from. Why? Have you ever been in a position where you buy something but have it installed by a different company and there have been problems? The installation company says it’s the product that is not working while the people who sold you the product say it the installer’s fault... Welcome to the twilight zone! I have personally been a victim of the “blame game” and it is absolutely no fun at all.

I hope this has been helpful and we would invite you to give us a call for a no obligation quote or just a chat.
